Katy & Kendra’s multi-day mountain elopement
Katy and Kendra’s mountain wedding in the North Cascades was a perfect blend of adventure, intimacy, and spontaneity. Over two days, they embraced the beauty of the fall season, shared heartfelt moments, and navigated unexpected challenges with grace.
Day 1: A Forest cabin, first look, and sunset vows
Katy and Kendra’s elopement began in the heart of the North Cascades, tucked away in a charming A-frame cabin surrounded by towering evergreens. To start the day, the morning unfolded slowly and intentionally as they got ready separately, soaking in the significance of what was ahead. Before heading into the mountains, they shared a first touch — a tender moment to hold hands and exchange heartfelt words without yet seeing each other.
Soon after, joined by their adventurous pup, they laced up their hiking boots and set off for the trails. However, with one of the busiest weekends of the season at Artist Point, we pivoted our plans to keep their experience intimate and personal.
Instead, we found a peaceful overlook above Bagley Lakes for their first look. Surrounded by golden fall hues, they embraced as the still lake below created a calm and emotional setting.
From there, we made our way toward Artist Point. But rather than navigating the crowds, we chose a hidden ridgeline just a mile off the main trail, revealing panoramic views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker.
As the sun dipped lower, Katy and Kendra exchanged vows in the crisp alpine air, their words carried by the breeze and framed by sweeping mountain views.
To end the evening, they explored the ridgeline for sunset portraits in soft golden light. And as a final surprise, a distant black bear made a quiet appearance — an unexpected yet fitting touch to their wild and unforgettable adventure.
Day 2: Windy adventures and a secluded picnic
The next morning, Katy and Kendra embraced the spirit of adventure once more. Swapping into fresh outfits, they set out before sunrise, determined to reach the top of Table Mountain for another round of portraits.
However, unlike the previous evening’s golden light, the day greeted us with fierce winds and moody skies. The exposed ridgeline felt raw and untamed, making every step along the jagged rock face exhilarating. Even so, they leaned into the elements, holding onto each other as laughter carried through the wind. Despite the conditions, the views of glacial lakes and rugged peaks made every step worth it.
After descending, we pivoted once again, searching for shelter from the wind. So, we returned to the peaceful shores of Bagley Lakes, where fall foliage was at its peak — vibrant golds and deep oranges painting the landscape. There, Katy and Kendra shared their first dance, swaying among the fiery shrubs in a moment that felt straight out of a fairytale.
To end their elopement, they laid out a simple picnic and soaked in the final moments of their two-day adventure. With the mountains towering behind them, they embraced a day that felt wild, intentional, and deeply unforgettable.
